Kiratn with Wade Moriseetee - Saturday, February 12th at 7:30 PM at PranaShanti

Kirtan with Wade Morissette
Saturday, February 12th
7:30 PM - 9:30 PM

Join international Kirtan artist Wade Imre Morissette for an uplifting evening celebrating Valentines Day
with heart opening Kirtan!

Although the kirtan involves music, the underlying art of kirtan chanting is not actually about musical ability or training-it is about the heart. Everyone can participate, regardless of age or cultural background.

The purpose of this music is to get us out of our heads and into our hearts. Typically, the songs can last for 20-30 minutes each with a few moments of silence in between each song so you can soak it all up. The longer songs allow for deeper experience of the effects, and with the simple, repetitive lyrics.

Participate in an evening of powerful Kirtan with Nutone artist Wade Imre Morissette. A sing until you can’t sing anymore bliss out mantra call and response expression fest!

Wade has been practicing and teaching yoga for 13 years. He has completed Iyengar, Classical Ashtanga and Ashtanga-Vinyasa yoga teacher training. He has studied Vinyasa, Viniyoga, Anusara, and Kriya yoga, as well as zazen, Vedic Chanting, and active movement and sound meditations with some of the best-known teachers in Canada, North America, and India.

He is also a Reiki master, certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist, and Viniyoga Therapist. He leads teacher trainings, workshops, retreats, and music-dance evenings internationally.

Cost: $25.00 per person in advance. $30.00 per person day of the event.

Wade will be in Ottawa for a full weekend of events including 3 dynamic workshops featuring yoga and music.  Full Weekend Savings! Sign up for all 4 Events on or before February 10th and SAVE $20 off the advance price and SAVE $40 off the day of price.
You pay just $140.00 per person for your full weekend experience!

Crystal Bowl and Planet Gong Concert with David Hickey Date: Sat 10/30/2010 at 8PM

Crystal Bowl and Planet Gong Concert
with David Hickey
Saturday, October 30, 2010
8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Join David Hickey for an incredible evening. Crystal Journey, an improvised sound journey with Paiste Planetary Gongs, Crystal Bowls, Santoor and Vibraphone.
Two sets of incredible music that allows the listener to be fully immersed with their spirit.

A few words from David:
Based in Mount Hope, Ontario, I perform with Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls, 15-20 of them. Each produces a pure note or tone, the purest there is. You have to hear them to believe it. I play them in combination with a Vibraphone, Santoor and 8-18 Paiste Planet, Symphonic and Sound Creation Gongs. Every gong features a strong fundamental note tuned to represent a natural harmonic series based on the orbital properties of the Sun, the Earth, the Moon and the other planets. It's like having a full orchestra.

I have been touring Canada coast to coast for the past seven years and have performed over 700 shows, having released 7 CDs to date. I have played the Bowls and Gongs accompanied by various musicians as well as with the Winnipeg Chamber Orchestra in June of 2006.

Crystal Journey has dedicated its intention for the music to help raise awareness to our environment and such social causes as Tibet and Burma, raising funds for these and various other charities. Crystal Journey also works with cancer support groups such as Well Spring Calgary. As 2010 unfolds, I am looking forward to taking my music to ever increasing numbers creating conscious awareness across Canada and the Globe with a message of peace. By year's end, Crystal Journey will have performed over 150 concerts.

The intent of the performance is to create soothing, meditative and healing music. Each one of my performances is completely improvised, and unique. The music attracts a full range of listeners. My concerts are in two sets, each lasting an hour in length.

My musical inspirations are, Jerry Garcia, The Grateful Dead, John Lennon, George Harrison, Bob Marley, Miles Davis, and Frederick Chopin to name a few.

Cost:  $25.00 per person. Register early to ensure your space.

Lets JAM together to release those sound vibrations that will help us stay warm and have all the necessities for the winter season. It is a time to begin that inward heart journey of reflection, to reflect on our accomplishments during this radiant year and to take time to rest and regenerate.

Divine Sound Weekend with Brenda McMorrow - Concert, Saturday, October 16th at 7:00 PM, Chant Workshop, Sunday, October 17th at 1:30 PM

Saturday, October 16th at 7:00 PM
Kirtan Concert with Brenda McMorrow and
Special Guest Errol Starr Francis

Kirtan – a practice of Bhakti Yoga (the Yoga of Devotion) - is a call and response form of singing which is expanding throughout North America as westerners discover its uplifting, healing and joyous effects.

Kirtan is easy to learn and participate in. The lead singer sings simple and beautiful melodies and the crowd responds either by memory or by using lyric sheets provided. Brenda explains, “Singing together– chanting the Divine names – encourages our hearts to open and the beauty of our true beings to shine!”

Canadian Devotional Chant artist, Brenda McMorrow, began her musical career in the early 1990’s as a singer/songwriter. She co-founded the London, Ontario folk/rock band Julia Propeller – a campus radio and CBC favourite – which opened for and shared festival rosters with acts like Ani Difranco and Bruce Cockburn.

Brenda’s rich musical exploration led her from folk to bluegrass to jazz and now - as meditation, yoga and expanding consciousness have become integral parts of her life – her true heart offering is to share her unique blend of original melodies, world beats and sacred Indian devotional chants.

To learn more about Brenda and her music visit Brenda McMorrow's Website.

Join Brenda and PranaShanti for this uplifting evening, tea and treats served after the concert!

Cost: $20 per person in advance; $25 per person day of the event.
