Musical Medicine Series: Lecture #2

Musical Medicine Series: Lecture #2
Exploring the Musical Wisdom of Ancient Cultures
Thursday, December 3 @ 7:30 pm
(Saint Paul University Amphitheatre, $12 at the door)

The Musicial Medicine Series comprises 9 talks on the science of sound healing. The opening lecture, "The Cosmic Symphony" provided a big picture framework for the entire series. Lecture 2 delves into the music of ancient cultures. Over the last few decades, the field of sound-musical healing has become increasingly validated in diverse professional disciplines as people begin to recognize the amazing transformative properties of sound. This re-emerging musical wisdom was grasped more than 2000 years from cultures who understood the importance of linking their musical activities with cosmic harmonies according to systematic sonic principles.

Should music have the capacity to influence human morality? Does a culture's music impact the behaviour of its society or does society constrain its musical development? What is a
musical physician? To find out the answers to these and other psycho-musical questions, come join us for an edutaining (entertaining and educational) evening as we probe the musical wisdom of ancient cultures as diverse India, Greece, and China.

NOTE: This event requires advanced registration. Please contactsacred@sympatico.cato reserve your space.
